Thanks! I should try to figure out a way to retrieve the latest version numbers where possible.

I'm not sure that's a good idea to auto-pull into the config A better idea would be to contact the maintainers and ask if they'd at least commit to hosting one revision back so the older version would still be around and the script won't break, but you can still manually upgrade.
Otherwise, could have problems with new signing keys, changes in the URLs anyways, etc.
Then you can setup some monitoring notification for each of the projects to auto-file a ticket so it can be manually changed.
