Reverting to 1.0.6 of loopback-component-passport fixes it for me in my project, however, the loopback-example-passport project does not experience this despite using the newest version of loopback-component-passport.

Removing the 'loopback-component-passport source' from (https://github.com/strongloop/loopback-example-passport/blob/fca1d7d6b16e39262d0c6b8ca442bea8d2d7318b/server/model-config.json) fixes it for me. The source doesn't appear to be pointing to the correct directory anyways, but when I added it to my project, it was the correct directory and thus was causing these problems.
The userIdentity and userCredential models are being created in passportConfigurator so I think this should be safe.
