Not sure if this will help anyone but the issue I was having was in a React project where I had a component called OrderItem and a Typescript type called OrderItem. They both had the same name and were causing a conflict. No errors were show in the prettier output related to this just the red exclamation mark in vscode.
I spotted this because the functions name was coloured like a type and not like a function (Green)
After I changed the name the prettier error went away (Yellow)

We no longer check non-CSS files by default in 1.x.
