I agree with @asreimer that the redshift/blueshift convention should be enforced for the default velocity colormap. That is the standard convention for presenting line-of-sight velocity data measured by SuperDARN (and many other space science instruments), and will likely be a continued source of confusion for science users (particularly those transitioning from davitpy).

Found another issue, so I updated the original comment.

Thank you for your suggestions.

  1. Range-time doesn't do parameter detection, so if you want a specific colormap for velocity then you can set it with cmap The current one was based on how it is not specific for a specific parameter and is color-blind friendly.

  2. The stripping might be caused due to the plot plotting data based on the actual time as per-requested by people. I can look further to determine if there is way around the stripping.

  3. Documentation is being handled in another branch as things keep changing and it is hard to keep remembering to keep up with it. This is already resolved thanks to @billetd

  4. I can look into this.

Closing this issue as I have made separate issues for each problem exception documentation as things are constantly changing and the documentation will be updated as things are more finally settled.

I deleted my mean message. Documentation will be updated whenever it gets done. I am done.
