I'm looking into this. Current thinking: add hooks that allow you to replace a TLIndexPathTreeItem
when the node is expanded or collapsed --- an opportunity to lazy load children. Will require partially rebuilding the tree because TLIndexPathTreeItems
are immutable. TLTreeTableViewController
will rebuild the tree internally, but client code will need to be aware that tree instances are subject to getting replaced with new ones. Comments welcome.

Any performance issues rebuilding the tree on expansions/collapse? Look forward to seeing an example!

Unlikely. I have a filtering/sorting interface that rebuilds a 1000 item data model on each change and it isn't even a blip on the performance profile. In your case, you'll likely have far fewer items because of the lazy loading. I think performance will start to be an issue at a few thousand items, but I've not encountered a data set of that size yet.
