I'm trying to avoid junking up your issues, so will jot this down here. It seems from your Shiny commits that you've got that working, but in my limited knowledge that still doesn't directly mean that there is any ability to automate static capture like htmlwidgets

stuff (as I mentioned in this PR). Have you, or are you, considering an interim solution of .js
-ifying a few browser-dependent solutions to do that anyway? It seems like it's pretty straightforward (here, for example). That could then be wrapped in an R function that would insert the screenshot in an Rmd
(admittedly necessitating an otherwise unwieldy extra function call that would be otherwise not required for leaflet
, but hey ...). Just a thought, and likely out of scope, but interested to hear your views.
