actually i think we have this topic covered in general ..
http://symfony.com/doc/master/cmf/index.html

of course there might still be details to work on but those should be done in tickets with specifics

Those contain installation instructions for all the bundles, not a single line on how to actually create a minimal functional CMS. As we speak, I'm struggling to find what's wrong with the SimpleCMS installation instructions, as it doesn't work. Reopen please

issues in the current documentation should be covered in new tickets that mention the specific issues that need to be solved. the tutorials do discuss how to build a CMS. at any rate there is little value in keeping such an unspecific ticket open when we have progressed passed the point of having no documentation at all. now its time to open tickets with more concrete things that still need to be covered.

Fair enough. I started literally yesterday with sfCMF, so I can volunteer as a guinea pig for this. I honestly miss a lot of docs, I just don't know where to start. I've got it up and running, but it does nothing, as I have nowhere to start reading about it :/

@tiagojsag the cmf-sandbox can be a good starting point to see how things play together.

we really appreciate issues about precisely where you get lost in a tutorial (or even better, pull requests if you figured out something that was not clear). it is a lot of work but we do want to improve the documentation to the point where a new user (knowing basic symfony) can get running with it.

no doubt there is still lots missing and more importantly a lot of work to do to figure out how to most efficiently present the information we do already have so that beginners quickly find the answers they need at the start and then grow from there.

@tiagojsag if you are lost with the current documentation you can always come by the #symfomy-cmf IRC channel on freenode. there is usually someone around there. i am about to head out for the evening though, but i will be around tomorrow again. we very much depend on new comers teaching us on how to best teach other new comers :)
