I just pushed a change to DVID where I added use of levigo and then modified my use of goleveldb based on those changes. I no longer have the error. I believe the issue was misuse of LRUCache and opt.Options.BlockCache. In looking through your code and the way caching is normally setup in leveldb, I can't figure out how to use it, particularly in a unified way with other leveldb implementations. So for now, I just go with the default for both LRUCache and BlockCache.

This bug are actually valid. It happen because compaction pointers contains reference to zero-length slice where it supposed to be nil.

The opt.Options.BlockCache supposed to be set before initialization, but if you want to modify options after initialization, you should do it before any database operations.
