Oh wow yeah that's absurd.
I notice that too every now an then.
I'm not actually sure where I got the data from. I think originally it was jguitar, but then I may have merged some data on top... I'm not quite sure.

It should be possible to get the correct data using the provided script: #1 (comment)

It takes a long time though...

And I just noticed your extensive work on this, over at:

tombatossals/chords-db#2

I am guessing its a rather complicated process and includes some random stuff/inaccuracies due to way its being scraped.

Regardless thanks for the amazing effort! Just what I have been looking for!

Haha, thanks so much for the prompt response! I might have a 'tinker' with that script... maybe I can handle the image process/recognition stuff to get more accurate fingering 😅

Oh wow, I forgot all of that. Looking through that topic it turns out that I actually set up a dedicated project for the scraping: https://github.com/T-vK/jguitar-parser

The script I linked to before is probably very outdated and not capable of extracting the fingerings as that involved image recognition.

The image recognition might actually be what's wrong here. Maybe you can check it out and report back if the image recognition is actually not accurate. I can try to fix it then.

@GastroGeek how did it eventually turn out after all these years, any luck?

@lancejpollard - wow this is a blast from the past. If memory serves, I did get the script working at least sufficiently enough to grab an up to date dump . However, I think I just ended up using the @tombatossals/chords-db dep in a little extension I made for Raycast.

https://www.raycast.com/GastroGeek/guitar-chords

https://github.com/raycast/extensions/blob/572e25b17944c68518b49b1d1bc408e5cbf90ee8/extensions/guitar-chords/package.json

And as part of that, ended up building:
https://github.com/GastroGeek/chordbox

Which I guess can be used with any dataset.

Are you working on something 👀
