Edit: rspec isn't executing due to a Gem LoadError (noted above).
I'm executing local tests through Kitchen. Sorry for not being more clear.

@desktophero Try gem uninstall net-ssh -v 3.0.2
. That gem is not part of ChefDK 0.10.0. Or another choice would be to rm -rf ~/.chefdk/gem
to remove all extra gems you've installed.
I tried rspec just now and it worked fine for me.

Thanks, @jmccann ... I get the steps to remove that particular Gem.
Going to try a different approach as I didn't do well in explaining my take:
Perhaps wording that explicitly calls out the ChefDK as the only testing harness. (This cookbook is tested only using ChefDK and native Gems) as opposed to a "requires", which is more implicit. I /have/ ChefDK v0.10.0.

And this issue isn't a show stopper ... just looking to flush out docs and testing in a way that includes different levels of proficiency with the users in the Chef community.

@desktophero I created #4 to try and address your concerns. Feel free to merge that and close this if it looks good and that takes care of your original issue.
Thanks!
