An exercise session should be seamless. This makes the intervals work as expected. I made exit dialog window on purpose to prevent accidental quitting.
In terms of my app, 'Learned card' means the card will never be asked in exercise. This is the same as the card would be removed but the difference is that it is simply stored. You can listen to it on the player or return it back to the exercise if you decide to study it again.
By default, if you answer wrong, the card will be duplicated to the end of the card list. But you can change this behavior. Just go to deck settings -> Grading -> set 'No' below the question 'Ask again?'.
If something goes wrong with the grade (for example, you think the answer is correct but the app counted as wrong) you can change the grade manually which in turn will determine the interval that is right for you.
About rules for checking. Using regex will be too compicated to the user. I myself do not quite understand how regex can be used in order to specify the validation rules. About capitalization issue: I made an error. I was sure that the check happens ignoring case. This will certainly be fixed.
