The word is correct.

Not so! Admittedly it's not so obvious in the GitHub web environment.

It merely looks correct above due to how GitHub renders Gurmukhi script, but not when you view it with BabelPad or Notepad++.

The extra VOWEL SIGN U is clearly still present, both here in this example, and in 8 other places in the whole Bible.

Please use Notepad++ to search for regexp \x{0A41}{2,}
or use BabelPad to search for Unicode escape sequence \u0A41\u0A41

btw. Code2000 font is a general purpose Unicode font that covers a large proportion of the Basic Multilingual Plane.

These issues are important because any such words with the extra vowel will not match a search for the word spelled correctly with a single vowel.
