If you move the main-content-inner and any lines below it from the header.php template into your page templates, you'd be able to customize them a bit easier. Though it might be better practice to write in php a conditional statement that omits the 'col-sm-12 col-md-8' classes for specific templates instead.

This is example code I used in the header.php to conditionally change the width:
<div id="content" class="main-content-inner col-sm-12 <?php if(is_page_template('page.php')) {?>col-md-8<?php } else { ?>col-md-12<?php }?>">
You could even omit the ELSE statement if you want.
