Hi, actually it's as we designed.
tedge gets device.id from your device certificate's CN. We don't make device.id configurable by tedge config. The purpose is to print it by tedge config list is to help user to check the value in an easy way.

As @rina23q pointed out rightfully this is expected behaviour and done on purpose. We do not want to have inconsistency regarding device-id and therefore the device certificate is and will be the only place where the device-id gets stored.
