@LiuCMU Please note the release of DataWarrior 6.1 built by January 23rd, though it won't change much regarding the preferred use of only one header line per .csv column.

same issue - Intel Mac, OS is Sonoma 14.2.1
For an example of a CSV that I was able to open with dwar 5.5:

In the present case, some columns have a one-line header (e.g., SMILES), other have two:

header

This (understandably so) leads to a problematic import by DW:

erroneous_import

Instead: open the file is read by a spread sheet (e.g., gnumeric), and e.g. remove the partially filled second row for good.* Export the edited file again as a .csv; the subsequent import into DW by File -> Open works just fine:

after_edit

jm2c00921_si_002_modified.csv

* Or else: edit the .csv eventually submitted to DW in a way that content of the second row (if present in the original file) now is only in the first row, then delete the now empty second row before exporting the edited .csv.

thank you @thsa! Curiously, I can open the file fine in DW using the File -> Open approach. Although maybe it's not surprising since the file is formatted correctly as a CSV in that all columns are comma separated, it just has two header rows (uncommon I guess).

Still, with this file and others (with or without two header lines), opening via right-click in the finder -> open with DW leads to the "Unsupported file type" using DW 6.0.0

@LiuCMU Credit to whom credit is due: the update of DataWarrior is the result of work by @thsa, not me.
