This is still an issue for a bunch of themes.

This issue needs to be fixed upstream. If I merge a fix here, it will just be overwritten next time I regenerate the templates.

I had this problem as well. To solve it I went to menu:
Options/Customize Emacs/Top-level Customisation Group
In the Search fiels I typed: ansi-term-color-vector
and pressed Enter.
I had a vector that started with unspecified and was followed by a series of symbols resembling HTML colors.
I have replaced it with:
[term term-color-black term-color-red term-color-green term-color-yellow term-color-blue term-color-magenta term-color-cyan term-color-white]
being inspired by post at the top.
The terminal seems to work now.
