I don't know because the environment is created with the following command

CIL/.github/workflows/build.yml

Line 72 in cafd781

  conda-merge <(sed -r '/tigre|astra-toolbox/d' ../scripts/requirements-test.yml) docs_environment.yml > environment.yml 

basically adding the requirements for the documentation on top of the development's ones (but stripping out tigre and astra) https://github.com/TomographicImaging/CIL/blob/master/scripts/requirements-test.yml

The "removal of GPU deps potentially causing missing docs" issue did cross my mind at some point when I implemented #1679, but I forgot and nobody picked up on it either.

Should be an easy fix.

actually just looking at the numerous longstanding docs build errors/warnings, I can see I introduced one more error in #1736 lol.

#1679 dropping GPU deps was not the only problem.
