Upon further exploration, it looks like sometimes the zoom stays in place and sometimes it resets.

@dcm31 I believe this has to do with whether or not the layout is frozen. If it is frozen, it doesn't change the viewport, and if it isn't frozen (i.e., if auto-layout is enabled) then it zooms to fit the entire graph every time. Let me know if that's not your experience.
I agree, it should be possible to use auto-layout and not have the viewport zoom every time. I will make a PR for this as soon as I can 👍

Thanks for looking into it! Yes that does indeed appear to be my
experience. Of course, when auto-layout is on, the graph often needs to
completely rearrange itself when a new node is added, so I think it’d be
best to stay locked in on whatever node was just added rather than staying
locked in at specific X Y coordinates if that makes sense.
