Oddly, I discovered that this issue goes away, at least on SLES 12 and RHEL 7, when I use Mesa 10.0.5. But literally any version newer than that causes the issue (and I tested 10.1.x, 10.2.x, 10.3.x, 10.4.x, 10.5.x, 10.6.x, 11.2.x, 12.0.x.) I thought at first that it had something to do with the fact that 10.0.5 uses the LLVM static libs by default whereas the newer versions use the LLVM shared libs by default, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Unity, by comparison, works fine with all versions of Mesa tested.

Removed "GNOME 3" tag since the built-in OpenGL support in TurboVNC 2.2 obsoletes this issue.
