Well, not exactly. The HTML5 implementation is pretty basic and thous can't
ignore specific words, such as #hashtags and @mentions, but it should be
better to use the browser native implementation than having separated
implementation. Also, keep in mind that both the native and Twitter's
implementations are using basic textarea widget, making it impossible to
set different direction in the paragraph level - this could be fixed if the
library will re-implement the text widget as a rich text control_._

Twitter, and many other sites, have to implement automatic detection of RTL languages when the user's browser doesn't support dir=auto. Not only that, but adding dir=auto doesn't appropriately handle Twitter usernames and hashtags. Calling the library 'worthless' doesn't contribute much to better RTL support on the web. If you have an issue with the library, please format it as a constructive issue, or as a pull request.
