I would be happy to pitch in here if you could point me in the right direction? I see command has a get method that takes a port, but I don't see what is calling it.

I also found this npm which finds open ports starting at a certain configurable port #: https://github.com/indexzero/node-portfinder.

Thoughts on tying that together? I could work on something tonight if you think this is the right direction.

portfinder seems to be a really good candidate, so yes if you can work something that would be cool.

Released version 0.4.3, which should support Meteor apps and other servers that need 2 ports.
It increments port number by 2. It's not the smartest code ever but it's a first step.
