Thanks for the comment. I quite don't understand how versionCode works. I was thinking to update it each time a new release is out... so versionName v0.8 would still be versionCode 1 because everything prior to it was "pre-release". Or would be better to incremet it in each commit?

Basically versionName is just a fancy string, versionCode is the number value which gets compared to determin wether to update or not. Even for pre-release updates, you should increment the versionCode. So when you reach v1.0 your versionCode might be e.g. 23.
So, yeah, basically you update it on each commit or on each buildable/working commit, even if it's alpha/beta quality.
