Are you referring to the facet categories or the facets themselves? I think the order on the categories is great. The facets could be ordered alphabetically.

The facets are sorted by 2 factors: If they're checked, and the dataseries count on the right. When you check a filter, it bubbles up so it's easy to see.

I like the sorting by data series count, but I could also see the value in sorting the sites by network or the variables by category, but maybe that's unnecessary since we can filter by those categories. @horsburgh , do you have an opinion?

If I understand what @jcaraballo17 has implemented already, I think it is fine. I don't think we should implement more sophisticated sorting within the facets.
