Same issue. There is no node_modules/node-uuid/bin directory at all.

AFAIK it is meant to be used as library and not as standalone app. *nix based OS usually will have system level tool to generate GUID and UUID, so (IMO) there is no really need in making it as standalone binary.

If it shouldn't have a global component on principle, then I can respect that. But if a pull request to add it would be accepted, I'm glad to do the work.

And yes, the docs do claim that a command line interface exists as mentioned by @jbrudvik .

@broofa I reached out to @benjreinhart on twitter. But now I notice that ac6fede is dated Jan 6 2014 but npm says that the module was last updated a year ago. Possible that its just a matter of npm needing the latest?

@broofa never made a new release. I asked him about it here and it looks like he forgot create a minor version and publish it.
