Proof? My understanding was that absorbs are just a flat temporary health bar.

It's that way on classic and any actual vanilla, TBC, or WotLK video with absorb effects will appear to absorb on average a lot more than they should if crit damage was factored. I'll see if I can't find some priest videos as evidence.

It may be handled in real vanilla similar to block, where it is placed on the hit table and suppresses crit and crush rolls. Would need video evidence; it should also be tested both through standard rolls and against Cold Blood which guarantees crit.

The way Darg's talking about it seems to imply that crits still visibly occur, but are suppressed in some way. I'm gonna test against mobs real quick on era.

I know you said you wanted a video, but this image shows me receiving focused casting while bubbled, which is the priest talent that buffs you against interrupts when receiving a crit. So you can definitely still receive crits. Idk why, but fully absorbed attacks don't show up on the combat log.

Fully absorb hits are not shown by default in both vanilla and classic. You have to enable it in the combat log in order for it to show.

Should be found in your interface settings or chat, not sure what 1.14 looks like but in 1.12 it's these two menus:

The 179 and 187 were crits. Absorbs seemingly have no bearing on anything to do with crits or crushes.
