Provider rpm not included when installing puppet module about puppet-alternatives HOT 12 CLOSED

Did you install the module from the forge or from git?

The module was installed via puppet forge. If you install/download the module from puppet forge you will notice that the rpm.rb file is missing from /provider/alternative_entry/. If you then try to use the type alternative_type on a redhat OS then you will get the error - provider could not be found for alternative_type.

The Forge has version 0.2.0, but the RPM support was added more recently. I'd love to see a new version published, we're using it from git at the moment in Foreman's installer, which isn't ideal.

Since this module has moved to the puppet-community namespace would you all prefer if the new release landed on the Forge under the community namespace?

There is no time line on that feature being implemented, so rather than
block indefinitely in that just publishing to my account solves the issue
now. We can always republish it later.
