It's probably due to the different shell environment that Home Assistant is running as, which is slightly different then your logon shell.
Did you update the PATH variable in alexa_wrapper.sh as documented in the README?

I have the same issue...
I got it working with to the point of the command line.
But having notifications from within home assistance does not work.
I have set the path in the wrapper.sh - but I don't get a notification when I execute the script.
