as of now, this issue is fixed in SVN (revision 92). we found a new heuristic 
that more robustly provides the event id than grepping for device name as we 
were before.
can somebody please confirm it works. :)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.sudo logkeys -s -o /tmp/foo.log -d /dev/input/event4


What do you see instead?
not logging keystrokes, no messages in log file

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. logkeys --start --device=event2
2.
3.

What is the expected output? To log ;-)
What do you see instead?

Without --device : an error, with --device with the good device : empty log 
file..

Le device is event2.
