Boucman: IIUC, the original request was about the "Unit list" (Alt + u). I don't much use that feature, but perhaps someone does.
The terrain is normally indeed shown in the top right corner, but this information is not updated when viewing the "Unit list" table. In the table, only the unit's coordinates are shown.
There would be two ways to implement this:
Add a new column in the unit list table for terrain (takes up space in the unit list, but OTOH allows to see all units' terrain at once).
Or, update the top-right-corner terrain information when browsing the "unit list table". (This would allow seeing the information for the selected unit in the list. Updating the GUI outside the currently active widget may be hard to do, I don't know, so you or Sapient are probably the best persons to judge if doing this would be worth the coding trouble.)

I don't know of anybody using that feature much...
the average size of maps and number of units in a typicall wesnoth game has shrinked considerably since 0.9 times, so I don't think it is commonly used.
However, this request still makes sense, so I am reopening it for the time being...

Unit status effects are determined in unit_list.cpp

The last of those checks relates to invisibility and is dependent on the unit location. Similarly, if there is an easy way to check if a unit is in a village (I didn't find any existing method), it should be straightforward to add a village icon in the status list. This will at least satisfy the main part of the original request - I don't think a listing of current terrain for every unit would be all that useful.
Unit status widgets are configured in unit_list.cfg
