Seems a bit pointless if the page is going to be deleted anyway?

True, but at least it removes it out the backlog until it is deleted

Its just 2 days. Who would like that you remove a tag and 1 hour later, the file is deleted? I for 1 would be like "Why did
I do this stupid removal of a simple tag?!".

Well, if the tag {{Move to Commons}} is removed at the same time as {{Deletebecauseoncommons}} is added, that certainly makes sense, and shouldn't come as a surprise to the Twinkle user. It's not an extra edit.

And from the standpoint of someone who actively processes [[Category:Copy to Wikimedia Commons]], I can understand that it would be helpful if those pages aren't visible in the category anymore.

Note for implementation, there's a lot of redirects for that template:

I have a question; what is the point of {{db-f8}} if {{NowCommons}} achieves the same purpose without clogging up the CSD category?

Ebe123 avatar Ebe123 commented on June 24, 2024

I would say that that question should go on WT:CSD.

atlight avatar atlight commented on June 24, 2024

Fixed in c6589e7: the tag {{move to Commons}} and most of its redirects are now automatically removed in the XFD (FFD and PUF), CSD, and DI modules.

:( It doesn't work, I've just done an F8 CSD and Twinkle didn't delete the template :( File is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1-Pakistani.jpg

The code has been changed here in the repository, but not on the wiki yet. Since I'm not an admin, I can't do it, and rely on any one of three people - all of whom are relatively inactive on Wikipedia. So you will have to be patient.

Besides, per Logan's (logatron's) comment above, it is better to use {{now Commons}} (available from the "Tag" tab) instead of {{db-f8}}.

But does the {{now Commons}} tag option remove the other template?
