Hey @zerok thanks for raising this. Here are a couple of thoughts in return
- We don't think about checking whether speaker name combos are unique across events, though we do implicitly assume they are for profile pics
- We also need a way of publishing speaker and sessions info before there is a schedule
- The current speakers page is actually a sessions page (ie, talks with multiple speakers are listed once, with both speakers listed)
- We also don't have anything like a short description which we could use to make in a page listing sessions more interesting
Finally, the sad and neglected video archive currently lists only by conference-year combo, that might be a good place to look at a per speaker page "outside" of the conference structure.
So I'm open to optimizing all (or any) of this, but I don't think your suggestion works as is.
A very minor improvement might be to reframe the speaker page as a sessions page, restore the explicit talk anchor link to make it easier for speakers to link to their own talk, and perhaps even add the talk time and date to the session info when that's available.
Otherwise, for most attendees, it's probably more useful to have a list of sessions rather than individual pages? (especially for our relatively short list)
Thoughts?
