This is the same as https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=59813.
Has been going on for a while.
In LabelRenderer.cs, Control is null and this will cause a number of methods to fail with null reference exception as a number of them will try to access properties on Control without checking for null.
Overriding the label renderer and doing null checks is our current workaround.

The issue is indeed present in 2.4.0. I can not reproduce the issue on your sample once updated to 3.0.0. Seems we fixed it already.
