it's an artifact that can't be fully fixed, it's a similar thing that would happen if your took a camera an put it next to an actual screen.

you should also only see it if you're at a very specific distance.

I'm not entirely sure - I have a feeling it's due to the way that other similar effects are achieved.

You don't get the same issue if you do it in an "incorrect" way, where instead of showing only the color channel through the respective pixels, you could just multiply the image by the pixel textures color, which, from far away, looks normal, but up close looks incorrect - in that you are just essentially applying a color tint to the image based on the pixels color, whereas I'm showing the color's brightness based on the color of the original image, like actual pixels would.

Anyways, this other method, which I'm guessing is the common method, doesn't have the artifact up close.

Either way, the artifact is only visible up close, so it shouldn't be an issue, generally speaking.
