I'm not familiar with Vault (Do you mean https://www.vaultproject.io/, right?). But I guess when you set up "Vault" in step(1), Vault stores a credential somewhere and we may be able to read it by Node.js File API. If accessing Vault from Node.js is common, I think there is an existing package of Vault client.
For (2) and (3), I'm not sure why we need $${}
in your proposal. If get_secret("xyz")
is JavaScript, I feel it just works w/o $${...}
as JavaScript.
Also, the new Template String syntax might be helpful in your use case.
