Agreed that this should be opt-in..
As it stands, the extension always builds on save
I didn't even notice it attempted to do that, only fmt-on-save I noticed. That is to say, no binary / executable appears. In fact I just saved a change and no new folder appears in the program's zig-cache/o/ dir. Then I do a manual zig build for that and it materializes.
I see some long stack-traces however in the Log (Extension Host) panel, that'll be a separate issue for me to open but as they explicitly mention ZigCompilerProvider that's likely the explanation here at my end.

In my branch I added dumping of the zig build output to the console during the build on save, so the patch will also make the user experience better.
