Bug: auto jump on top corners about a-little-game-called-mario HOT 5 CLOSED

after some more experimentation it seems to be linked to corner correction? maybe? unsure

Ok, so the bug seems to be slightly different than what I thought

There seems to be some extra height given when you get corner corrected. I do some normal high jumps in the video, then the bugged jump by getting corner corrected and also holding towards the wall. I think in some circumstances, the very high jump that I experienced before might still happen.

yeah so - i don't have any problem if someone wants to fix it (i think it's more an issue with the tilemap collisions than the jump), but i will ALSO say that i've seen it used as a speedrunning tactic 🙂

my personal design philosophy around bugs is that if they don't have a meaningful negative impact on the average player's experience, they aren't a high priority. and if they have a POSITIVE impact on a subset of players (e.g. speedrunners) and make the game a little more dynamic and interesting, i'm more inclined to leave them in place indefinitely (or until there's a level or something that is flat out broken because of said bug)
