circuitpython-default-files's Issues

PyRuler and Linux keycode support

Hi! I just got my PyRuler and the keyboard shortcuts in the default code.py only supported Windows and Mac. I hacked together something that also works for Linux and Chrome OS. Would you like a pull request for the updated file?

Syntax error with CircuitPy 7.3.3 and the PyRuler default program

Apologies if I'm using this Issues functionality incorrectly. I have a new PyRuler that I updated to firmware v7.3.3. Now, the default code.py program that ships with the ruler throws a syntax error in Mu. I made my way over to this code repository. I suspect the v4 and v6 folders refer to CircuitPython versions. If so, I suspect my issue is that something changed in v7 that necessitates a syntax update in the default program.

Mu indicates the issue is in line 31: touches = [DigitalInOut(board.CAP0)]

File "code.py", line 31, in
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'CAP0'

So I gather that the board library no longer refers to Capacitive Touch 0 as CAP0. At this point, I'm at the end of my abilities. I'm not sure where to go to see the documentation for the board library so I can attempt to update the code.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Micah

Recreating board "default" contents after firmware major upgrade.

I just upgraded a Gemma M0 to CircuitPython 5.3.1 firmware while following these instructions. The upgrade it self went fine, but then I downloaded the default gemma contents as directed by same instructions. I got an error about a .mpy file being out of date that pointed me at this troubleshooting page, which pointed me here, or more precisely to the latest CP Bundle releases.

Obviously I couldn't get the entire contents on the Gemma M0. I was able to figure out what I needed to be able to run the original main.py that came with the board. This only took my about half an hour to figure out, but my concern is that newbies will have a more difficult time. I think that with something like Circuit Python, it's important to encourage new user's to upgrade any board they buy to the latest stable in order to ensure good support experience from the community. But I'm afraid this kind of problem would be offputting to a brand-new user.

My request is for a database or other reference of default "main.py" files for each CP-capable board, plus listing of the needed libraries in the CP Bundle I realize this is difficult as a library's file structure changes over time, and I am probably incorrectly assuming that the CP Bundle developers have any insight into each board's default contents. But I think it's important to be able to run the default main.py that comes with a board as it tends to spell out how to use all the features of that board.

Related, I've also created a pull request against with suggested verbiage changes to alert the user to download the updated Bundle if they upgrade their firmware.

Anyway, thanks much for your hard work on this code project. I do very much appreciate it.
