tempo-trainer's Introduction

Tempo Trainer

A data field for Garmin devices which allows for training to a tempo

Installing

Download the data field from the Garmin Connect store and add it to the activity types you wish to use it for.

Operating modes

The data field can operate either in an interval mode (1 second to 9 minutes 59 seconds), or in beats per minute mode (1 to 60 beats per minute).

An alert is given when the metronome clicks over, and this can be set to tone; tone and vibrate; vibrate; or visual only. In Beats per Minute mode, or for intervals shorter than 30 seconds, a single audible beep and single vibration are given. For longer intervals, a longer tone is played and a three-pulse vibration pattern is introduced.

The data field visuals assume a 4:4 time and repeat through the following pattern:

Managing Settings

Settings should be managed through Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express.

On view only settings

Starting with release 1.2.0, Tempo Trainer has an option to operate in an always on mode (default) or in an on view only mode. See here for more details.

tempo-trainer's Issues

Add option to start/stop on lap press

thanks for this tool. I have one suggestion to use it in similar fashion to the finis tempo trainer or even better: Would it be possible to start the beats by pressing the lap button? Use case: I do my normal warm-up during the swim and some intervals. Than I swim a long set, let's say 1500m and I want an alert every time I should hit the end of the pool, so I know if I am on pace. Aiming for 1:24min/100m I set the mode to rate and the value to 21. But the rate starts on the full minute of my overall workout time but I would want it to start when I press the lap button and start the 1500m, so after 21sec in my 1500m set it vibrates the first time.

Change interval of timer

It is posible to change the interval from 1000ms (1sec) to 100ms (0,1sec), so I can set time intervals like 750ms? Or there is any restriction on Garmin?

Add prompt text for rate settings

In case #4 proves to be a limitation of ConnectIQ, ensure the user understands this with a prompt text - and maybe an HTML page here to explain the same.

No support for newer Garmin devices

Dear Adam,
Gergo here.

I found your app, since my Finis Tempo trainer Pro broke. My problem is , that I cannot install the app on my watch because it is
not listed among the compatible devices in the CIQ store.
If you can please add the devices released since the last update (eg. FR 255 music).
Thanks and BR
Gergo
