I used the portable .exe archive to try Texter 0.6 (I can't make the AHK work). It created some folders and archives, and initiated the program.
When I created a new text expansion item, it created a blank item before the one I made. I deleted and created another item, just to see if it would happen again – and it did.

I looked at the source, and I found the problematic line, but alas, I have not had a chance to read the AHK documentation just yet due to being at work, though I wanted to report the issue.

Texter has worked great for me so far in Win7. The bug I encounter happens when I make a Remote Desktop connection or when I switch to one that is already open.

What happens is that as soon as I mouse over the window of the remote machine (whatever is actually on the screen of the remote machine, not the client window gui), I get an error message popup from Texter, and Texter stops working, but does not exit until I tell it to exit.

The error message is as follows:

Error: The following variable name contains an illegal character:
"not foundKeys"

The current thread will exit.

Looking at the code, line 174 of Releases\0.6\texter.ahk seems to be the culprit. Why this is triggered when mousing into the Remote Desktop is beyond me, and this may also happen on WinXP; unfortunately I don't have an XP machine that I can test with.

When I try to create a hotstring to automatically capitalize the letter "i" followed by a space, Texter sets 2 triggers: Space and Instant. Instant is not useful, because every word beginning with the letter "i" becomes capitalized. I only want the letter "i" capitalized when followed by a space.
No matter how I try to force texter to accept a single trigger for this hotstring, it reverts to both triggers. How can I stop this?

Just spent the last 2 hours troubleshooting this -- thought my rig suddenly took a dump on me. Eventually realized everything started acting up after I had installed texter.

The problem seems to stem from the auto correct function.

Here are the issues:

• Up and down arrow keys get wonky in Onenote 2010 Premium Pro. When editing a note, you need to hit up or down TWICE to register one line movement up/down. Doesn't seem to be related to time, either. In other words, I could hit up, then wait 5 minutes, then hit up again and it would register only the second keypress. The first one seemed to be filtered every time. Left/right arrows worked fine though.

Keys started 'sticking.' Both chrome beta and Firefox 3.6.8 started leaving a "d" in the address bar when i would hit "alt-d" to give the bar focus.

Keyboard shortcuts for start menu shortcuts started acting weird too. I had assigned "ctrl-alt-n" to open notepad. But when texter's auto spell correct was turned on, the shortcut stopped working or would only work intermittently. Oddly, a ctrl-F12 shortcut was unaffected.

Alt-D and other shortcuts would randomly stop working in browsers. Problem was intermittent although it's gone away completely after turning off autocorrect.

PandoraOne's keyboard shortcuts (spacebar) would break down as well.

As soon as i turned off the universal spelling autocorrect, everything worked fine.

I was about ready to reformat, too. Thank god I realized it was this at the last minute.

I'm pretty sure that texter causes a strange behaviour on my systems.
Under some (unknown or better unclear) circumstances the system refuses the drag n drop function.
I have experienced this issue in three computers with the same bundles and the latest version of texter available. Operator systems Win 7 Ultimate, Win 7 Starter and Win XP.
Can somebody confirm this issue?

When I run Texter, at some point my Win keys stop functioning. I use Win-L all the time to lock my keyboard, Win-D to display the desktop, and Win-F to search for stuff.

When I select a bundle and from the menu click Bundles->Remove, the bundle is not removed.

on win 7, gateway netbook, pressing the brightness key causes

Just wanted to a report a bug I've run across. Texter doesn't seem to like the pipe character | in the hotstring. I use a particular build of Tiddlywiki that uses pipe in tiddler entry and I was hoping to use it to replace a section of text I have to regularly input. I'll use another hotstring, but just wanted to report.

EXE with MD5 (4990832de2e88f8529e3e1ab5afb342a) incorrectly pollutes the C:\ root drive:

I live in Holland. I use quotes a lot, for example:

For "quotes" like that (and also for diacritics as in gööd dày to yóu).

This is with just Windows (Vista) and Texter OFF. It's because my locale is Holland, I'm pretty sure.

So type a quote (double or single) and the cursor doesn't move.
Then type either a vowel, to get the vowel with the dots (double quote) or accent;
or type a consonant to get the quote followed by the consonant;
or hit the spacebar to get just the quote.

This is what it should do. The problem is: Texter interferes with this. It seems to be unaware of that locale. It tries to help me but overdoes it with quotes around words, ie next to a space. (With diacritics inside words, ie not next to a space, there's no problem.) The same example with Texter ON:

For "quotes""like that. "Ït throws in an extra"" which I don't want, see? I type doublequote-space-It to get "It but I get "Ït, with a dotted I.

You'll understand I have to do a lot of backspacing & arrow-backing when Texter is on. So I end up turning Texter on and off all the time. Not good.

I'd appreciate your views on this. I hesitate to start digging into the code to make a Dutch Texter, but I'll do it if that's the only way.

(installed into my dropbox folder on my personal PC, they synced to my work laptop)
Default bundle, custom "work" bundle loaded.

I hit tab to do a hotstring replacement of my personal email address from my default bundle in Firefox 3.6.13 and the horizontal and vertical scroll features of my trackpad are immediately disabled.

During regression of the issue, it also came to my attention that all of my shortcut hot keys ("Shortcut Key" in a .lnk file's properties) were then likewise permanently disabled.

The only way I have found to correct this is to do a reboot.

I love texter, it's been working great. I use it to provide various email signatures.

Starting a couple weeks ago, when I try to do a particular hotstring in a gmail compose window, it completely locks up the tab. Can't even reload it, I have to close the tab and reopen. What is funny is the tab seems to be still "running"... as in when I reload the draft, the texter inserted text is actually in there even though it never showed up on the crashed tab UI.

Seems to work fine in non-canary Chrome install so I'm guessing it's something about my config, but it's weird it just started doing this out of no where.

I'm running in compatibility mode. The crash stops happening if I run in clipboard mode, but in clipboard mode, no matter what hotsring I type, it just pastes whatever is in the clipboard.

Seeing as this project hasn't been touched in 8 some years, I'm not expecting much from this issue report.. lol. Just sucks it stopped working where I use it most.

When using texter, I am unable to use windows or other applications, such as Greenshot, to capture a screenshot using the Print Screen button on the keyboard.

Reproduction

• With Texter closed, take a screenshot using the print screen keyboard button
• Open Texter and test an abbreviation
• Attempt to take a screenshot using the printscreen button. Note that you are unable to do this.
• Close the texter application via the system tray.
• Verify that you can once again take screenshots.

I am able to reproduce this on my Windows 7 x64 box, but wanted to post here to see if others could reproduce.

I found out that texter creates an issue in windows 8.1 on my acer aspire laptop.
when active, once in a while, primarily after sleepmode, the winkey shortcuts don't work anymore. and it also interferes with the fn key. It happens, then disappears and then happens again.
This happens in all programs.
It looks like the sticky keys problem that happened in previous versions.

version: windows 8.1 (64bit), dutch language, texter 0.6 (in compatability mode), intel core i5-4210u 4.0 g RAM.

When I select a Hotstring in a bundle and click the "-" it does not remove the Hotstring, it just stays there.
