The Abyss

The Abyss is an ultra-minimal platform designed to provide you with a space to express your thoughts, no matter how deep or profound they may be. It's a place where you can release your innermost musings without any limitations or judgments. Dive into The Abyss and let your thoughts flow freely.

Features

  • Simplicity at its Core: The Abyss embraces minimalism. The focus is solely on your thoughts and words, without any distractions.

  • Anonymity: Feel free to express yourself without revealing your identity. Your thoughts can be shared without any personal information attached.

  • Unfiltered Expression: There are no constraints on the content you can share. Whether it's a fleeting idea, a profound realization, or an abstract concept, you can release it into The Abyss.

  • No Social Interaction: The Abyss is not a social media platform. There are no likes, comments, or shares. It's a solitary space for your thoughts.

  • Private and Secure: Your submissions are your own. We do not store personal information nor do we sell them, it's you and you only who owns your data.

Packages // Weapons

The Abyss also has a new-sub-repo (If that make sense, hopefully), known as the Packages or if your feeling for something different, they are also called Weapons. These are typically plugins that are independent of The Abyss but do enhance it's experiance, currently I've published the first weapon of choice, Zen - an ultra(beautiful) platform to articulate your thoughts before plublishing it and while you could do this inside of The Abyss, Zen is designed to be more minimal w/ no distraction whatsover. OH, also - it's open-source <3

We will soon launch a space for developers to create their weapons and publish them!

Getting Started

  1. Visit The Abyss in your web browser.
  2. Click on the "Write" button (available in your dashboard) to begin your journey.
  3. Start typing your thoughts. There's no need to worry about formatting or editing. Just let it all out.
  4. When you're done, click "Release" to send your thoughts into The Abyss.

Contributing

When contributing to The Abyss, please first discuss the change you wish to make via issue, email, or any other method with the owners of this repository before making a change. We also have guidelines and a strict code of conduct that we need everybody to follow (This also applied to our very own team), please do find it a CONTRIBUTING.md

Build Steps

  1. Clone the Repository If you haven't already, clone the project repository to your local machine using Git:
git clone https://github.com/solomonshalom/the-abyss & cd the-abyss
  1. If you feel a little sigma, go ahead and read the package.json and develop it but if you aren't (or you just want to be productive), these are the steps -
  • Install the Dependencies with the command yarn install
  • Build it with the command yarn build
  • Start it // Develop it through the command yarn start or yarn dev

Please also remember that there will not be a problem if your planning on using NPM or a different package manager of your choice (We recommend NPM as an alternative as we haven't tested it alongside other PMs). ALSO, Don't forget to add the ENV!

Pull Request Process

  1. Ensure any install or build dependencies are removed before the end of the layer when doing a build.

  2. ALSO, please do not forget to have the title of your PR as Hello! Mom (There is no particular reason but it will match the chain of commits :D) and mention your changes in the descriptions with the approriate labels.

  3. Update the AUTHORS.md with your name & username (Check it out to see how to do it <3). Please also include details of any new changes // fixes (Non-technical as well) that you have achieved in the Pull Request.

  4. You may merge the Pull Request in once you have the sign-off of two other developers, or if you do not have permission to do that, you may request the second reviewer to merge it for you.

To know more about each Contributor // Mainter, check AUTHORS.md
