weallneed's Issues

Permalinks for Quotes do not work

Expected Behavior

When the page loads, if the hash points to a quote, that quote should be jumped to and given the class selected.

What Happens

Nada.

Notes

It's in the JS, and probably has to do with the order things are called in, I'm working on a fix.

Fix Firefox issues

Currently, map markers do not display in Firefox, and sound doesn't work on some versions.

Crowdsourced transcriptions

Some of the transcriptions are very subjective and done according to rules that we didn't really discuss and aren't transparent. We should enable people to enter a better transcription for the audio if they think we didn't do it justice.

Tag/Filter Handling Issues

Top filters should be generated dynamically. Map markers should be filtered when a filter is selected. Currently there is no interaction between filters and map.

Map marker handling issues

Map markers should be highlighted (orange) when selected, or when the corresponding quote in the stream is selected. Map markers that are close together (or in the same location) may need to follow a grouping mechanism.

Handle Quote Stream Generation

Decide (and implement) how quotes should fill into the site - it should either be 1) randomized on each refresh / site visit, so the same people aren’t at the top every time or 2) sorted by time (like twitter), in which case we’d want to add a time tag.

Currently the quotes are read in following the same order on every refresh / load.

Mobile Theme

It's all screwed up right now, but we need to get all the functionality of the desktop app flushed out, then can worry about the mobile working

Reduce Spacing

The spacing below each divider line in the quote stream is too large - it makes scrolling take much longer than it should. The spacing above each line might also be reduced slightly.

A Secure Way to Input Data

Problem

The input data form is currently commented out to prevent just anyone from uploading data.

Possible Solutions

• We could password protect the /data_form page
• Build in user control (weeeeee!)
• add a password field to the dataform
• add a field to the database that gives us editorial control over if a quote is displayed. (and all the other required shenanigans to make that work).
