denonavpcontrol's Issues

Denon Receiver will stop responding

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Sending a fast (less than 1 second) set of commands
2. Using the Denon AVP/AVR Control from the iPend Audio menus

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should respond to every command but it will ignore commands if they come to
quickly

You will have to wait about 10 seconds for it to clear and retry the command if
you have a problem.

DENON AVR 1912 Unknown Model

I am trying to get this plugin working with my network capable denon receiver. It is a Denon AVR 1912. When I go into the Denon/Marantz AVR Settings page, it shows "model: unknown".

The volume controls don't synchronize with Squeezer. When I start a random mix, it will load a playlist, then I have to click play to start it. After the first song is done, the player will hang, with the playback timer usually reading more than the number of seconds in the song. I'm not sure if my model is not supported or there is a config issue. The receiver is visible on my network with a static IP.

Amplifier doesn't start

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Plugin installed and enabled
2. Starting the player (touch) doesn't start the Denon
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
That doesn't work from the touch, from the webinterface or from Ipeng

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Squeeze server 7.7.1-01
Touch up-to-date
ipeng 1.4.5
Denon amplifier AVR-1912

Please provide any additional information below.

Did I do something wrong ?

Best regards,

Stephan

Fixed Volume (100%) and iPeng 2.0 not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I installed the current version of denonavpcontrol and got iPeng (iPhone) to
control my Denon AVR 2113.
The control (Volume, Power) in general works perfectly - thank you for your
plugin.

But when I enable "Fixed Volume" to get 100% volume out of my Squeezebox Duet
receiver and to manage the Volume using the Denon I'm not able to manage the
volume in iPeng anymore (like you described within the HowTo).

Do you know how to fix this?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DenonAVPControl 1.9.2
LMS 7.7.2
Squeezebox Duet
iPhone 4s with iPeng 2.0

Plugin issue

Hello,

It seems the 1.9.1 version has the same issue than the first release of the
1.8. I had a ticket opened for this last time
http://code.google.com/p/denonavpcontrol/issues/detail?id=5&can=1

Is the sting.txt needs to be fixed ?

Best regards,

Stephan

See if Squeezer will add Plugin Menu in the App

Today only the iPeng iOS app shows the plugin menu for controlling the AVR audio features. It would be nice if Squeezer would also support this feature.

This would require and adaptation by the Squeezer author and potentially some changes in the plugin too.

Set Quick Select before Power Off

Enhancement Request
My old 3808ci doesn’t support CEC HDMI control. This plug-in works great but when the receiver powers off the Denon input remains on OPT1, which was set by using Quick Select 2. Wife comes along and wants to watch Netflix, HDMI2, but Denon is still set to OPT1.

Could you add a feature to set the Quick Select before powering off? That way I could return the Denon to HDMI2 via Quick Select 1, for when the wife comes along. 😬

in 7.7.1 LMS the xml file does not work. i can`reinstall the Denon plugin, it is not listed any more.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. install 7.7.1 lms
2. reinstall xml denon
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
no plugin denon available any more

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
7.7.1 lms latest

Please provide any additional information below.

Possibility to disable Volume-Control

I have a Denon CEOL receiver, and it works to some extend with this plugin, but volume synchronisation/volume control doesn't seem to work. I tried a lot of different "max values" for Volume, but any setting has almost the same effect. If I change volume of squeezebox, volume of receiver goes to max.

Therefor I'd like to have an option to totally disable this feature and just use this plugin for turning the receiver on or off.

Set source on play

It would be nice if the plugin could reset the input source when you play something. Maybe the receiver has been used for something else in the meantime.

If the repo could be set up with the source not only as a zip I could submit a PR.

Daphile, Denon 3808 and LSB Controller

Hi, I'm trying to use a LSB Controller to control the volume on a Denon 3808 AVR. The source is Daphile 21.01-x86_64 connected with SPDIF to a Denon 3808. All hard- and software is patched to the latest version and have fixed IP addresses.
I set the Denon to a max volume (-20dB) and used QuickSelect #1 to select the input and initial volume (-40dB).

Daphile plays just fine and I can select/play/pause albums using the LSB Controller and switch the Denon ON and OFF.. However, I can't control the volume on the Denon. Sometime it does after I touche some settings (tick and untick a box, store/save) but after a reboot it stops working again. It doesn't look very stable. I tried every mathematical combination of settings and must have restarted all sytems a zillion times by now to see if it would finally stick...

(...help...!)

Feature requests: Automatic power on/off interferes with Harmony remote and pausing player when denon is off

Hi,

Thanks for your great plugin!

I use my Harmony to switch between activities, but the denonavcontrol plugin
shuts down the Denon, even if it is also used in another activity. My
work-around is to modify your code by deleting the actual poweroff command from
the corresponding function, but maybe you could make power on/of optional in
the settings? (this issue is now less pressing, since i lack the possibility to
turn off my new player with the Harmony. See next request ;-))

Another self-created problem i have is that i am using squeezeplay on a joggler
as my main player. It does not have IR remote control, so it can not be
controlled by the Harmony (i use ipeng). I could add an IR sensor, but i really
only need the player to stop of poweroff when i'm not using is. Otherwise i
always have to go into ipeng in addition to switching off or changing
activities on the Harmony.
Would it be possible to make the plugin also work the other way around?

The way this could work is:

The plug in polls the Denon to see if it is still power on (* or even if it is
still set to the right input)
If it can't connect (* or it's not set to the configured input), than the
plugin sets the player to paused or off.

*= not really necessary, but would be even greater

It would not have to poll that often. Once every few minutes would be enough
for me. Maybe it could automatically poll every time the player starts a next
track(?)

Error with synchronized players?

It seems to me that synchronized players causes an error with the latest version.
Multiple synchronized players which are not connected to a receiver works OK.
A single player connected to receiver works OK.

When synchronizing a player with a connected receiver, playback stops after a few seconds and I find this message in the log:
Slim::Utils::Timers::ANON (272) Error: Timer Plugins::DenonAvpControl::Plugin::handleSendPowerOn failed:

Mystery

I have an old Denon 3808, a very old but great AVP that just keeps working. It does not have airplay nor HDMI CEC, so this app is perfect for me. I run two zones and decided to use PiCorePlayer for zone 2. The PCP is connected to 3808 via optical cable. I then loaded AirPlay Bridge plug-in as it allows my kids to easily play Spotify through my other Logitechs as they show as AirPlay devices. Here’s the mystery.

Today, I was on the deck and started SirusXM on my iPad. Normally I use iPeng to play music. I started ALT station and then clicked Devices/AirPlay in the app. I see DECK listed as that’s my PCP, the plug-in enables it as an AirPlay device. I selected the PCP and then thought, oh wait the Denon won’t turn on so went to go turn it on and music started playing! Somehow the Denon turned on to zone2 but my 3808 does not support AirPlay as it’s the original version that was never firmware updated to support AirPlay. I tested this twice from cold state and it works. If I pause the music on the SiriusXM app, the Denon shuts off…. Click play and it turns on again but then turns off after a few seconds. If I switch the SiriusXM app device back to iPad, start the stream, and then switch the device back to the PCP, Denon turns on and music streams just fine. Going to try other apps like Spotify and Amazon music but cannot figure out how the Denon is turning on!

Extreme volume discrepancies at lower levels

Hi,

Thank you for this plugin. I am using it with my denon avr-s750h. Everything works fine, except volume sync. I am experiencing abnormal volume level discrepancies at lower lms levels. For exampe 5% on lms leads to 20% on my avr. 10% to 28.5%,15% to 30%. This is way to coarse for my needs...

Is this a bug or is this behavior intended? If yes, could it be turned off somehoe? I think I read something about less linear volume in the documentation. It is extremely annoying for me and I think there should definitely be an option to pass the volume 1:1 to the avr.

Update Plugin Menus with iPeng App

Currently only the surround mode plugin menu item is updated automatically. The others only show the state that was selected through the menu and these are erased after a LMS restart.

The plugin should show the current state of these menu items from the AVR at each use.

LMS Docker Install and DenonAVPControl

I've been using Denonavpcontrol for a while and really depend on the application. It's AWESOME! Unfortunately, I am trying to move to Docker install for LMS due to Synology dropping LMS as a supported application. I have everything up and running via docker and can install various plug-ins but I cannot get Denonavpcontrol to install. It shows in 3rd party list, I can check it, I receive server prompt to restart, but it does not install. I am seeing this error:

Slim::Utils::PluginDownloader::_downloadError (266) unable to download DenonAvpControl from https://github.com/aesculus/denonavpcontrol/raw/master/DenonAvpControl_4_5_1.zip - 404 Not Found

Issue with the 1.8 update

Hello,

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
DenonAVPControl 1.8
Media Server 7.7.1

Please provide any additional information below.
I seems the update broke everything.
Even after I cleaned all the files (that I am aware of) and reinstall the
plugin, I got strange name in the plugin list (see pictures) and and empty
entry in the dropdown menu (see pictures).

I deleted the folder
/volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl
The file /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs/plugin/denonavpcontrol.prefs
and the .zip in the folder DownloadedPlugins.

Any Idea Chris ?

Best regards,

Stephan

iPeng Volume control issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open iPeng
2. Turn on Player (SB Classic)
3. Press Play
4. iPeng Volume slider starts at 'correct' level then jumps to full volume
level (slider is all the way to the right). Actual volume does not change. Real
Problem is: to then use iPeng volume control, you must slide it back from full
(toward left), but if not done swiftly to a reasonable level, the actual volume
then spikes to a high level.

Problem is not 100% reproduceable. Occurs about 60% of the time.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Current version of Denonavprotocol
Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 running on Fedora 16
Squeezebox Classic - Toslink, fixed volume
iPeng 1.4.5

Denonavprotocol settings:
Max Volume -5
Sync Volume - Disabled

Possibility to select input source on turning receiver on

I have a Denon CEOL that works to some extend with this plugin. However, there is no QuickSelect functionality in protocol. But there is a possibility to select input source.

I can select e.g. "Digital In 1" by sending

SIDIGITALIN1 to telnet protocol.

Or I can check selected input by sending

SI?

Is there a possibility to implement a parameter that I can enter and so select input source on turning receiver on (equivalent to current supported "Quick select" functionality)?

iPeng (1.4.7) sleep mode volume control not controlling AVR volume

The new version of iPeng (1.4.7) has an option to change volume using the using
volume buttons also when app is in the background (need to turn on the
"preserve connection" option) and when iDevice is sleeping. However in this
mode the control is only on volume of player and not the receiver. All work as
expected when iPeng is in the foreground.
