geo-portal's Issues

URL Shortener

url shortener for links (where actual link details are stored on server)

Better print map (Use CartoDB static map features?)

CartoDB added documentation for the static map feature which should be able to be accessed via the api. Look into generating static map image using this instead of manually tiling.

Alternative is to improve mosaic for current print map

Double Loading Layers with Fields

When loading layers with fields (possibly only the first time the layer is loaded) the layer is loaded with the original CartoCSS then reloaded with the CartoCSS for the selected field.

Check if method for applying CartoCSS before loading the layer exists.

Limited display subgroup

example:

group A has layers a1, a2, a3

group B has layers b1,b2,b3 and has limited display enforced

at any time, only one layer from group B can be visible along with any number of layers from group A

Assign carto account by layer

Currently layers all need to be in the same carto accout. Should be able to fix this by adding a account name field to each layer

Improve Legends

Legends currently are rebuilt for every new layer / field using custom Jenks breaks. Ideally legends would be consistent between fields within a layer as well as between fields measuring similar data.

Potential solutions:

  • manually predefine breaks for layers
  • create legend groups and calculate breaks that will be appropriate for all layers / fields in a particular group

Auto Detect Single Field Layers

Layers which have a single "field" property still display the select box. Add support for detecting layers with a single field and removing / hiding the select box.

option to set max number of active layers

toolbox option that limits number of layers active at any time

options

  • warning if user tries to open layer when at limit
  • remove a current layer if users adds new layer when at limit

Animated layers

i think there were issues with these when i tested them out a while back

Mapcentia Geocloud2

Explore using Mapcentia Geocloud2 as a replacement / supplement to CartoDB which we can run on our own server

Generic layer group

Create a generic layer group that makes layer compatible with any other group without actually having specific groups assigned to it
