finder-sidebar-editor's Issues

Feature Request: Command Line Script

Have you considered creating a command line script to add, remove, reset, and reorder the Finder Sidebar? This would probably dramatically increase use. I imagine this could be a simple wrapper around your Python script with a more fully-fledged __main__() method.

Once it is turned into a script, it could also be added to Homebrew (https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core) for automated installation. This would be great for use in automating set up and configuration of new machines.

dockutil (https://github.com/kcrawford/dockutil) does a great job of this, if you want to copy their syntax. Tens of thousands of people use dockutil (source - ~15k in the last year using Homebrew alone)), and I would expect your utility would get plenty of use if wrapped as a command line program as well.

Unable to remove iCloud Drive from Sidebar

(Continuation of discussion here.)

Thanks for that reply. I think the issue is that iCloud Drive isn't under the "Favorites" heading, but is rather its own heading in the Finder Sidebar at this point. Is there any way to edit the code to look under other headings? I'm attaching screenshots of the current Finder Settings window, my own current Sidebar, and the output of mysides in Terminal. As you can see, it only shows the contents of the "Favorites" heading.

I wish I could contribute more to the discussion than a desire for what I'd like to see and showing the current state of things, but this level of scripting is, unfortunately, beyond me. Since you don't have a Mac, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have and would be more than willing to chat via Discord, Zoom, or whatever you like, if you're willing to spare the time. :)

Usage Question

How can I target AirDrop using this? Have tried sidebar.remove("AirDrop") and sidebar.remove("Airdrop")

Are the System defaults/targets listed somewhere I could reference?
