Part 3 - Missing solution in the answer
The following dependency is required in pom.xml
<dependency>
<groupId>org.apache.camel.quarkus</groupId>
<artifactId>camel-quarkus-activemq</artifactId>
</dependency>
and the code for activemq
should looks like the following:
from ("file:target/in-orders-recursive?recursive=true")
.to("activemq:queue:out-orders");
Switch from Redpanda to Strimzi as default testcontainer image
I think it would be better to use the Strimzi testcontainer image by default, as it includes the official implementation of the Kafka APIs.
Maven to print a clear message when workshop attendees are not using the right maven versions
Users having a wrong maven version hit all sorts of issues. It would be good if we could have maven telling us that the required maven version is not installed. Maybe an enforcer rule with a version range ? If this is just a warning, it could keep unnoticed. So maybe breaking the build with an error message is better.
java --version
Current directions say to use java --version to check version:
On RHEL 8, this doesn't work:
[truch@truch ~]$ java --version
Unrecognized option: --version
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
On RHEL 8, this does work:
[truch@truch ~]$ java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_332"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_332-b09)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.332-b09, mixed mode)
Demontrate tests in the workshop
`mvn -f part-*-jvm-mode/pom.xml clean quarkus:dev` does not work on Windows
C:\orgs\cq\camel-quarkus-workshop>mvn -f part-*-jvm-mode/pom.xml clean quarkus:dev
POM file "part-*-jvm-mode/pom.xml" specified the -f/--file command-line argument does not exist
^ this happens in cmd.exe
Add possibility to fall back to manual Docker images
Add the possibility to fall back to manual Docker images because some folks use other alternatives for Docker, and don't have proper configuration of TestContainers
quarkus-maven-plugin:create fails on Windows with IOException: Stream Closed
Just reported: quarkusio/quarkus#23093
Add schemas to the part dealing with extensions/components
Some users find it clearer to have schemas. It gives more clue about what to be done.
