symbeam's Issues

Get data points from analysis

Is it possible to get data points from the analysis? So output the shear force and bending at a certain x. Cannot find it in the documentation.

Possible legal issues with the logo

I once wanted to use a logo in colors of python in order to highlight that my project is intended to be used with python (it is essentially python bindings to some third-party code), but feeled like they can be trademarked.

I have contacted the email and asked for clarifiaction and permission. I was told that currently they don't intend to trademark python colors and that if I start using my logo, I'd "be" a my trademark (damn this legal shit, I wish there would be no trademark laws at all!). But the colors are already a de-facto trademark.

I asked if they can either give me a digitally signed text that the use of the colors in my logo is not considered trademark violation, or change their trademark policy to clarify which uses of colors are explicitly allowed. I was answered that this is the decision which is up to the board, and the board won't do that for me unless maybe for a lot of money.

IMHO this FUD situation is a bit annoying.

FAILURE TO OPEN SYMBEAM

Hello, I am trying to install symbeam on my laptop, I have a windows system and it didnt work, after installing a linux subsystem is didnt work either, this is the code that shows up for the failure:

Building wheels for collected packages: symbeam, matplotlib
Building wheel for symbeam (setup.py) ... error
error: subprocess-exited-with-error

× python setup.py bdist_wheel did not run successfully.

note: This error originates from a subprocess, and is likely not a problem with pip.
ERROR: Failed building wheel for symbeam

Anyone sure why that is?

Normal and shear stress plots

A new feature to plot the normal and shear stresses on the cross-section at some point of the beam.

This requires the implementation of completely new functionalities in SymBeam, especially, to handle the geometry of the section within the symbolic framework adopted in the code.

Export results to PDF with LaTeX rendering

The output to the terminal is very handy and quick. However, as expressions grow in size (and) complexity it would be useful if one had the possibility to export the results to PDF or any other formatted compatible with LaTeX. Our eyes and brains would be grateful!

Identification of the critical section

The identification of the critical section in a beam would be a valuable feature to SymBeam.

This can be made in two ways: first, one could identify the points along the beam with maximum bending moment and shear force; second, to allow for a more accurate result, the maximum normal and shear stress at any point could be determined, at with this, the critical points and associated section.

Hyper-static beams

Hi, googling a little I've just found this repo. Nice job!
I would like to ask if it's planned to extend this repo to hyper-static beams. It would be very useful for didactical purpose.
Thanks in advance

RuntimeError: The number of equilibirum equations is less than the number of fixed degrees of freedom: the beam is statically indeterminate.

Comparison plot

A useful enhancement that can be implemented in the future is the plotting the results of two beams simultaneously, in order to allow for immediate inspection of the impact of changing some settings in the problem.

Include normal force diagram

In addition to the shear force and bending moment, it may prove useful to plot the normal force in the beam.

In principle, this is not complicated to implement, since in absence of distributed normal reactions the normal force is constant in each segment, therefore one has only to tweak the initial solution of the equilibrium equations and the supports logical flags.
