show-desktop-button's Issues

Clicking the show desktop button hides desktop icons (D-NG) and conky, even on version 7

Hi,
I know you already had a lot of work with fixing the option for the location of the icon. However, I am experiencing another bug. With the new versions (5 and now 7), when I click on the button it "minimizes" even conky and the desktop icons (Desktop Icons - NG) and leaves me with a blank desktop. Do you think there would be any way to fix this ?
Thanks for your work on the extension.

Gnome 44

I was wondering since Gnome 44 is pending release this week if there will be a update to this extension?

Call for translators

Hi!

I would like to localize this extension into as many languages as possible.

I warmly ask you to submit translation files following the procedure in the README, or even by submitting a text file with all the translations of the strings inside the show-desktop-button.pot file.

Thank you!

Right click to minimize all windows except active window

I have often situation, when I have already too many windows open and I want to minimize all except active window to better focusing.

Best place to integrate this function is Show Desktop Button. Left click to button acts as now, but right click will minimize all windows except active window.

What do You think about this idea?

EDIT: I think GNOME top panel won't do difference, is it left, middle or right click. Am I right?

Would It be possible to bind this to a keybind?

I don't see myself using mouse to hide the windows a lot, but I would really like to use Super+D ❤️

A way to change the state through a terminal command would be enought.

I don't like the default hide all windows option, because it doesn't transition smoothly

Keyboard shortcut

Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to trigger the extension?

Is not working on Debian 10 (GNOME 3.30)

I'm consent that the extension is not compatible with gnome 3.30, just for 3.36 but I think you could consider to port it to 3.30, so many distros and systems are still using 3.30 like gnome and other so-stables systems.

Even, Thank you for your work.

Add "center-right" to the settings

On GNOME 42, when the "Center" option is selected, the button is located on the left from date, rather than on the right.
The last April commit was the last commit that had the "Show Desktop" button located on the right from date. Now it's on the left without any option to change it back. Please give the option to locate the button either on the left or on the right from date.

Better integration with manjaro

This extensions works perfectly, but there is a visual problem, because when you click an update indicator for example, there is a green line on the bottom of it's icon when in this extension it is absent.

Make a builtin extension?

How can we make this a built in extension instead of making it per user I would like to make it for all users....

"Error" status for extension after reboot - Fedora 32

When the extension is first installed in Fedora 32, it works until the next reboot. After reboot, the button no longer exists. Navigating to the gnome extensions page, it displays the "Error" button. Disabling and re-enabling does not resolve the issue. Only an uninstall of the extension and subsequent reinstall resolves the issue.

Function request

Please re- enable the indicator to appear on the left side of the panel

The indicator doesn't reflect the current hide/show state

When we hide or show windows, the indicator stays the same. This makes it difficult to understand what state it's in, because this state is not reset if we maximize or minimize the window manually.
I see three solutions to solve this problem:

  1. Change indicator when changing state
  2. Remove the ability to show windows, only hide (or leave as an option)
  3. Reset the state if any window was maximized/minimized manually

Please add support for GNOME 46

GNOME 46 has been available on Arch and Fedora Linux for a while now, and other more stable distros are starting to adapt it too.

I would like to ask for an update to the extension so that it can be used on GNOME 46.

Issue with modal dialogs

I want to thank You for this little but very useful extension!

Mostly it works very well, but I found one pretty annoying issue. When I have regular windows opened, click to the show desktop button hides all windows. Another click shows all open windows again, all is fine.

When I have opened window and pop-up window top of it (example: Extensions app window and Show Desktop Button settings pop-up window) first click in show desktop button hides all windows as normal. But another click doesn't show any windows anymore. It just does nothing. When i click Extensions app button in dash, these windows will be visible again, but pop-up window in most cases now is behind of main window. When I close pop-up window, Show Desktop Button acts normally again.

Is there something we can do with this issue?

Multiple Monitors

Do you think this extension could support multiple monitors in the future?

Request: Remove the feature where the button shows all apps on the 2nd click

First of all, thank you for making this extension :) It does help make GNOME more tolerable and easier to use.

What I really do not like about the extension is the fact that it shows all running apps when the user clicks it the second time. I think it should only minimize all apps like how the show desktop button works on Windows. It is quite annoying when I click on the button expecting to return to my desktop and it just opened up more apps instead. It would be nice if this behavior could be disabled.

Dutch translation

For the Dutch language, we can use nl_NL and nl_BE codes, but if only one is chosen, take nl_NL.

Outdated for Fedora 40

I installed Fedora 40, and the extensions says is outdated... possible not compatible with Gnome 46

Support for GNOME 42 ubuntu 22.04

Hey,

This is a great extension and I consider it essential!

Are their plans to support this for GNOME 42? Is it simple to make this compatible for GNOME 42?

Thank you,
