Specifications

  • Framework: Django
  • Database: PostgreSQL

Installation

Local database setup

  • Create new Postgres database

Development database setup

App Setup

  • Clone the project to your preferred directory

  • Chenge the database variables to your newly created ones in the settings.py file
NAME = '[database name]'
USER = '[database user]'
PASSWORD = '[database password]'
HOST = 'localhost'
PORT = '5432'
  • Recomended: Create a virtual environment

python -m venv [env-name]

  • Recomended: Run virtual environment

.\[env-name]\Scripts\activate

  • Install requirements

pip install -r .\requirements.txt

  • Make migrations

python manage.py makemigrations

then

python manage.py migrate

  • Create superuser

python manage.py createsuperuser

  • Run application

python ./manage.py runserver

Post cards

Posts display

Create cards to show post information (title, image, author... etc) on the main page.

First migration issue

First time installation

After following the installation guidelines on the README.md, you get the following error when migrating to the newly created database:

psycopg2.errors.UndefinedTable: relation "blog_category" does not exist
LINE 1: ...log_category"."name", "blog_category"."name" FROM "blog_cate...

My workaround was to comment all the URLs and leave only the admin URL pattern. But I am sure that there's a better way to do this.

Fix navbar

Fix navbar elements position

I am trying to center the navbar elements but it didn't work for me.
