Suggestion:
Notify player when he gained a level / aptitude. E.g. "New aptitude gained"
I've only accidentally noticed this now when i have checked the character information.
Also show XP towards next level? Not sure if this is a good idea since i love the simplicity of the game now.
I'm afraid the fix for #18 is incomplete: if you press [5], you get:
Unknown key ' '. Type ? for help. Unknown key 'O'. Type ? for help. Unknown key 'E'. Type ? for help.

. I'm also thinking that the two menus, as of now at least, seem to have overlapping functionality as they are both showing a list of actions with key bindings. Perhaps they could be combined into one menu?
I wanted to play but there is no MacOS version. I had to compile for MacOS 10.11.6. It does work on my machine.
If other MacOS users want to play, they have either to compile the sources or they could try with the executable in the zip below.

to examine an object, is there a key to alternate between other objects?
This game is awesome but it would be even more awesome if it was possible to rebind at least the direction keys without having to change the code manually (via a config file for example) :) .
Suggestion - add walls around the edges of the level. Now it's not that obvious where the level end.
In the help menu there is an additional (? for help)
for a set of commands which does not seem to do anything. Am i missing something?

I'm playing standalone ASCII version on Windows 10. Release 0.10 worked well, but playing 0.11 is nearly impossible due to colour scheme. Walls are "covered" by FOV layer:
Solarized palette is not good either, because it's eye-tiring:
On screenshots I'm using cmder terminal emulator, but on default windows command line effect is the same.
Suggestion:
Highlight beginning of latest console log.
E.g. mark the first action of a 'tick' yellow, so it's easier to understand what is going on.

E.g:
"You see a robe here." or "You see a robe on the ground."

The arrow keys don't work unless NumLock is in the wrong state. I understand that some heretics insist on having it on, but most people have pretty strong opinion about this (wanting it to stay the hell on or the hell off). It's pretty annoying to suddenly have arrows broken after playing this game or when temporarily switching away from it.
Thus, could you please recognize arrow key codes as well?
If you have a game in progress (running) then start another one on a different terminal, the new session will continue from the last stairs taken, leaving the first one running with the same character.
Suggestion:
Log when you pickup gold. E.g. "You picked up 3 gold."
