Loading database stops after some materials

Explain the problem

When traversing the tree of categories and fetching the materials, sometimes the ec3 API request will fail, with an unknown error. This stops the traversing of the categories and laves the database in an incomplete state.

How to reproduce

Start the application, then on the search tab go to more options -> Update DB.

Launching the app also launches a terminal

Describe the problem

Double clicking the executable on Windows to start the app also starts a terminal. The default behaviour should be not to launch a terminal and log on error.
